Standing desks are becoming more popular now and they provide lots of relief. Working while standing makes a huge difference, concerning your posture and energy. In this VariDesk Standing Desk review, I’d like to explore why this particular one is a favorite with many and why it is Amazon’s Choice.

Why did I Consider getting a Standing Desk?

In November 2020 my back was badly injured and I could no longer sit for long periods. My movements and activities were limited in many other ways too, but since I spent most of my days sitting at the computer, my injury had a major impact on my work. Sitting caused me so much pain in my lower back, that I decided to do all the blogging, teaching – in summary, all the work on my laptop – standing.

That’s when I first started looking at the VariDesk. Although I didn’t get it right away, and my back healed in the first week of February, I still want to buy a standing desk. Even though my back has healed I still have to be careful.

Furthermore, working while standing keeps you more alert – it did in my case – and while you are typing away you can do some light exercises for the legs and glutes 🙂

In this review we will go over the key product features, check the pros and cons, customer reviews, and look at the price, so both, you and I, can decide if the VariDesk is a good fit.

Let’s start with the most important features this standing desk has to offer.

Pros

It holds rank #75 on Amazon in computer workstations.

Customers state in Amazon reviews that the product is superior, and they overall report that they’re very happy with their VariDesks.

Several customers commented that VariDesk also provides excellent customer service, which is always an integral part of any business. For me, good or bad customer service usually determines if I remain a customer with that company or not. Others say that the VariDesk is easy to operate and easy to clean.

Cons

One customer reported that it may not be great for people of a shorter stature.

The product is expensive, but I don’t necessarily see that as a bad thing, since the VariDesk is an accessory for life, as some customers state in their reviews. It will last for years, so even if the price is a little high, you pay for good quality.

Price

And here were are, the price. How much is it?

As of now, it costs $450 dollars on Amazon. Yes, it may seem pricey, but as I said, you get what you pay for. The product is of excellent quality and enduring, sturdy material. It has 49 Amazon reviews with a total of 4.5 stars, which is fantastic. Customers are happy with the product.

Final Thoughts

When you work all day on the computer, it is important to be comfortable and have the right posture – either sitting or standing. Having a stress free environment at the work place starts with your desk. When you buy a standing desk, you do not only invest in your own office, but also your mental health. Working in a pleasant environment makes a huge difference, because in the end you have to spend around 8 hours there per day. You might as well be comfortable.

  1. Hi Christine!
It looks like a great product, despite it is a bit pricey! I also have sometimes problems with my back but fortunately I don’t have to spent to much time sitting. For the office people it might be a good solution of course, and even if it makes you tired standing the whole time, you can always take a seat I guess. It is so good that we have now such a variety of inventions for any case.
    Thank you for this review!!!
    All the best,
    Alex

    1. Hi Alex,
Yes, it is pricey, but it’s indeed a great product that will last for many years. I agree, it is wonderful that we now have so many solutions for our work stations.
      Thanks for your comment!

  2. Hi Christine, I have the opposite problem: I can’t stand too long. Which is a pity, because I totally agree with you that sitting too long and too much is bad for our health.

So I do have a standing place to work on as well, but have solved the problem of sitting too much with the app StandUp. I get a warning every half hour and then I walk through the house for 5 minutes.

Anyway, very sensible to look for a solution for your back problem. Back problems are awful, I know from experience. I do hope yours is temporarily!

    1. Hi Hannie,

I haven’t heard of that app, StandUp. It sounds really useful. We do need a reminder to get up and walk a little, take a little break. I often get up and do that, but sometimes I lose track of the time, so that app would come in handy.
Yes, fortunately, my back problem is temporary 🙂
      Thanks for your comment!

  3. Hey Christine,

I work on my computer most of the day, bashing away on the keyboard, and I agree with you that sitting for long periods of time isn’t good for my back and productivity.
And it’s a big relief that the VariDesk standing desk comes assembled already!

You did mention that standing desk is very sturdy, so I’d like to know how well it can hold the weight of my arm resting on it and if it can hold other items like papers, a coffee mug and such.

    Cheers, Femi.

  4. Hi Christine! I can relate to it!
My back gets tired after a while, and having a standing desk gives back the energy. It is always important for me to have a sustainable item, and these standing desks are a companion for many years. I tried for a long time these rubber balls to sit in front of my computer. It helps for a while, but you need to balance all the time. That wasn’t convenient for me, so I have searched the internet, and tried some standing desks in a shop in my town. I have to say they are great!
The Vari desk is new for me, but from what I can read in the ratings and your review, this must be a great standing desk, so the next time I will go for this one! Thank you very much for your review! 🙂

    1. Hi Sylvia,

Great, it comes highly recommended. I heard of sitting on rubber balls while working and I thought I’d give it a try too.
      Thanks for your comment!

  5. Christine,

I love standing desks! They’re so much better than being stuck in a chair all day, and essentially making your posture bad, back sore, etc. I usually use the tall counters in my house for my desk, and they work wonders versus sitting down all day! I always get so stiff and sore when I’m stuck on my comp all day writing from a seated position!

As for the price, honestly, that’s pretty inexpensive for a desk personally. I’ve seen some desks that are garbage that run in the $300 range. Instead, you’re getting a much better desk for only $100 more. I wouldn’t balk at that price!

    Thanks for this great review!

    Katrina

    1. Hi Katrina,

I used to do that too, putting my laptop on the kitchen counter and work standing 🙂 It works well too 🙂
      Thanks for your comment!
